Iftar & Suhoor Programs

During the blessed month of Ramadan, we strive to reach as many of our Muslim brothers and sisters as possible to help them experience a more joyous and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan. Ramadan is a time for reflection, gratitude, and sharing the blessings that Allah (s.w.t) has bestowed upon us. At Sedekahsg, we aim to spread these blessings through our dedicated Iftar and Suhoor programs.

The Importance of Iftar and Suhoor

Iftar and Suhoor are essential moments during Ramadan, marking the start and end of daily fasting. While many of us are blessed to have a table full of food, countless Muslims around the world face the challenge of finding enough to sustain them. Our Iftar & Suhoor Programs are designed to ease this struggle for families and students, allowing them to focus on their ibadah (worship) during this holy month.

Ramadan Food Pack

What Do Our Iftar & Suhoor Packs Include?

Each meal pack is carefully prepared to provide the nourishment needed to maintain strength during fasting. The packs typically include:

  • Rice and Flour
  • Dates and Cooking Oil
  • Potatoes and Onions
  • Salt, Sugar, Spices, and Sauce
  • Canned fish

While the contents may vary depending on the region and local needs, our goal remains the same: to ensure no one goes hungry during the blessed month of Ramadan.

The Virtue of Giving in Ramadan

Ramadan is a month filled with immense blessings and opportunities for acts of kindness. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) emphasized the rewards of generosity, stating that providing Iftar for a fasting person brings the same reward as their fast, without diminishing their reward in any way. This simple yet profound act of giving can open doors to barakah (blessings) in your life and serve as a means of seeking forgiveness and mercy from Allah (s.w.t).

Why Your Support Matters

In regions such as Indonesia, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Thailand, many tahfiz (Qur'an memorization) students continue their studies during Ramadan. These students, often coming from underprivileged backgrounds, rely on community support for their daily meals. Your contribution not only provides them with the sustenance needed to maintain their fasts but also supports their dedication to reading and memorizing the Qur’an.

By donating to our Iftar & Suhoor Programs, you participate in an act of continuous sedekah, or sadaqah jariyah, ensuring that every meal you provide brings spiritual rewards for both you and the recipients. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said:

“Whoever provides Iftar for a fasting person will have a reward like theirs, without it detracting from their reward in the slightest.”

The dua Rasulullah (s.a.w) recited before breaking his fast:

اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ

How We Prepare for Ramadan

Our team starts preparing for Ramadan a month in advance. We identify the locations where we will distribute Iftar and Suhoor, focusing on areas with the greatest need, including madrasahs and community centers. We also coordinate with partner institutions to ensure the smooth delivery of meals and organize iftar gatherings that foster a sense of unity and community.
