Water Well & Fountain of Wudu Projects

Access to clean and safe water is a fundamental right, yet many communities in remote areas of Bangladesh and Cambodia struggle to meet this basic need. At Sedekahsg, we are dedicated to building Water Wells and Fountains of Wudu to provide sustainable, clean water solutions that enhance lives and support daily religious practices.

"One well, thousands live well!"

Water is the source of life and an essential resource for all living beings. Despite the abundance of rivers, Bangladesh and Cambodia face significant challenges with clean water accessibility due to environmental pollution and industrial waste. Groundwater contamination with arsenic and other harmful substances exacerbates the issue, making safe drinking water a scarce commodity. According to UNICEF, two out of five households in Bangladesh rely on contaminated water sources, endangering their health and well-being.

Since 2016, we have been actively conducting water well projects in areas most affected by water scarcity. Our projects focus on regions with limited access to drinkable water due to geographic challenges, lack of infrastructure, and economic instability. Each water well is built with a designated wudu (ablution) area to support the daily prayers of the local Muslim community.

The Best Sedekah: Providing Water

It was narrated in Nasai that Sa’d ibn ‘Ubadah said, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has passed away. Should I give sedekah on her behalf?” The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied, “Yes.” Sa’d asked, “Which sedekah is best?” The Prophet said, “Water.” This hadith underscores the immense reward in building a water well or a fountain of wudu as a continuous sedekah (sadaqah jariyah), benefiting communities and bringing blessings to the donors and their loved ones.

Standards and Process of Water Well Projects

– Projects commence as soon as funding is secured and typically take 40-50 days to complete.

– We guarantee access to clean, drinkable water, relocating drilling efforts if initial sites do not meet water quality standards.

– Wells are drilled to a depth of 80-100 meters to access clean groundwater.

– Each water well is maintained and inspected by our local teams and entrusted to local authorities such as the Imam of the mosque or village leaders for continued oversight.

Why Your Support Matters

By contributing to the construction of a water well or a fountain of wudu, you play a direct role in improving the lives of thousands. This gift of clean water not only meets their physical needs but also facilitates their religious practices by providing a space for wudu, an essential part of preparing for salah (prayer).

** Donations of SGD 100 or more per name will be honored with your name engraved on a marble plaque placed on the water well or fountain.

** Proof of project completion, including photos and videos, will be provided via WhatsApp.

Ensuring Safe Drinking Water

– We collect water samples to test for harmful contaminants such as arsenic and cyanide.

– Based on laboratory results, wells are adjusted to ensure water is safe for drinking and daily use.

What We Provide

– Photos and videos of the well opening ceremony attended by the local community.

– Information on the well’s name, coordinates, and the specific village and province where it is located.
